A basic pre-requisite of higher
research is to have a proper research library available. There is now a core
library already established in Muwatin. The books represent the most
up-to-date literature on a broad range of topics covering democracy, civil
society, nationalism, cultural and political theory, anthropology and
philosophy, as well as issues connected to Palestine and the Middle East, in
addition to gender studies.
As more MA degree courses are introduced at Palestinian
universities, the Muwatin library acquires increasing importance offering MA
students a highly specialized and cutting edge library. The library has
also extended its services to the teaching faculty of Birzeit University who
maintain reading materials from our library on reserve shelves for the use
of their students
Muwatin has made a determined effort to enlarge its
Arabic book holding by purchasing books directly from the Cairo
International book Festival and has widened its scope to the Damascus Book
Festival. |
تأسست مكتبة مواطن في
عام 1993 كمكتبة متخصصة تعنى بشؤون الديمقراطية، المجتمع المدني، الفكر،
الفلسفة، المراة، التنمية ومواضيع أخرى تهتم بالعالم العربي والقضية الفلسطينية.
وقد جاءت فكرة تأسيس هذه المكتبة المتخصصة نتيجة لنقص كبير في المجتمع
الفلسطيني لهذا النوع من المكتبات، وتعتبر مكتبة مواطن الأولى والمتخصصة في
مجال الديمقراطية وهي تشكل المصدر الرئيسي لهذه المواضيع. حيث تزود المكتبة
سنوياً بألف كتاب باللغتين العربية والانجليزية.
تهدف المكتبة الى
توفير وتسهيل الخدمات المرجعية لباحثين المؤسسة بشكل خاص، والى جميع المستفيدين
من المكتبة من طلاب الجامعات والباحثين بشكل عام. تحتوي مكتبة مواطن على مجموعة
قيمة من الكتب باللغتين العربية والانجليزية والدوريات والوثائق والموسوعات
التي تهم الباحثين والطلاب وجميع أفراد المجتمع.
يقدر عدد الكتب باللغة
العربية 5000 كتاب اما باللغة الانجليزية 4000 كتاب مفهرسة ومصنفة حسب نظام
مكتبة الكونغرس. وتبلغ
عدد الدوريات حوالي 300 دورية تعالج مواضيع مختلفة، منها السياسية، الاجتماعية،
الفكرية وحقوق الانسان. |
